This is one of the first pieces of 3D modeling i did, way back in 1993 when things were very different.
I'd always been fascinated by the work of M C Escher, ever since my parents took me to see an exhibition of his work in Liverpool in the early seventies.
Even as a child i was fascinated by the wonderful collision of mathematics and art that his work embodied, and when it came to the final year of my degree i decided to do something interesting, a 3D animation of Ascending and Descending.
10 weeks later, including much research on movement and going back to Roger Penrose's original text in the British Journal of Psychology that MC Escher used as inspiration.
Unfortunately the original files are long since lost, mainly due to the software package i did it in, Swivel 3D, becoming obsolete, however I'm still proud of it as a piece of work.
